Digital Video / After Effects Abuser Group Tuesday, March 23
IT'S OFFICIAL! DV SIG soars to new heights, becomes Adobe User GroupThe new After Effects Abuser Group - "Pushing Pixels Beyond" Pros who want to expand and exchange ideas and newbies who want to add production value to their videos will find a gathering of people who love visual effects - pushing pixels to go beyond what they've ever known, a place to be adventurous explorers — kinda like a treehouse, but with computers. We'll focus on AfterEffects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. We'll explore Visual FX for film and video - compositing, green screen, motion tracking, sky replacement, set extensions, scripting, expressions, procedural mattes - the things that put the wonder in wonderful. Every meeting will also have a segment especially for those who have admired visual effects but haven't known how to get started. Our "Newcomer's Corner" will feature topics that teach the fundamentals with an eye toward creating the seemingly impossible. Some meetings may also be recorded for online archiving, ease of review, and availability to more AfterEffects users. Terry Syndergaard will continue to be the Manager of this new Adobe User Group. Keivan Fotoohi will be showing his Lightwave 3D modeling technique to create a cruise ship, and animation technique to create a dancing frog using Maya, which he considers best for organic forms. Time permitting, he will also talk about WalMart product placement flythrough animation for Disney.
Keivan comes from a cinematography background with a BA in Film. He worked for post production companies in 1996 where he learned 3D. He's been doing 3D since, and loves every second of it. He started freelancing in 1999 and worked on great projects for Mattel, Ban Dai, Princess Cruises, Hot Wheel, Sony and, now, Disney. You can see more at www.digisculptor.com
NEW SEGMENT: NEWCOMER'S CORNER After Effects Quick & Easy Tips for the BeginnerYou've witnessed After Effects magic in the past, but now we're going to show you some simple, easy-to-do visual effects at each meeting that you can take home and try the next day, to build up your visual effects expertise. After Effects has the power to wow, but it's not all rocket science. Last Month you learned how to pan and zoom photos to a gentle stop, avoiding that abrupt "clunk into place" which seems to be the default of all non-linear editors. This Month's Quick & Easy: "Round Trip Workflow" At our February meeting, we had a request from Bridget Bull to show a round-trip workflow, exporting a clip from her FCP editing program, bringing it into After Effects to do wire removal, and exporting it back to Final Cut.
We will use Bridget's real world project to demonstrate how you can perform clip correction and quickly get back into your editing program for completion of your project. And to put some meat with those potatoes you'll learn to clone out unwanted detail in your video - cables, gear, obnoxious relatives, or what-have-you. |
